Paper Abstract:
|
Electronic participation is the use of ICT to enhance peoples activism and citizens involvement in public affairs. However, there is no perceived difference at the moment between offline and online participatory practices, especially when it comes to evaluating their impact on community life and on the quality of public decision-making, In this paper we present in detail the experience of the Virtual Town Meeting in the Italian Region of Tuscany. It is shown how at least in this case study, the addition of an e has made a lot of difference, both as an enabler of political participation, and in terms of results obtained. |
